of a sub-mountain range which includes
the Lakshadweep islands and the
Chagos Islands. Coral reefs and

have increased in and around the
summits of this sub-mountain.
Coral is a polyp marine living in
large colonies. Its exterior is
tough as is the structure of the
coral reef. Thus coral reefs are
structures of life that can be damaged
by pollution, oil spills and bad
weather. The beautiful coral reefs
of the Maldives are an absolute
sight, for their delicate beauty
and infinite variety of marine life.
