Marine Life in the Maldives

The richness and variety of marine life in the Maldives has to be seen to be believed. There are more than 700 varieties of fish that are seen swimming around the beautiful coral reefs and atolls of Maldives.

The system of coral atolls and reefs can be described as a sub-city, where coral reefs are interspersed with aquatic plants and other marine fish life in the Maldives, a viable environment to live and prosper. In the open sea, tourists can see the beautiful sight of sharks, whales, whale sharks and manta rays.

Fishing in the Maldives:

Closer to the reefs of the Maldives where it is safe to swim, tourists can see turtles, sea anemones, octopus and eels. There are many species of fish that make up the marine life in the Maldives. Some of these fish, that you can see in the Maldives are skipjack, also known as Maldives fish, Dogtooth tuna, butterfly fish, sweet lips and Fusiliers.

The Maldives is regarded as one of the best places in the world for underwater photography. Sites such as schools of 10000 to 100000 fish or groups of 30 to 30 manta rays or eagle rays are often seen in and around the Maldives. The marine life in the Maldives is full of surprises and unexpected sights.

Best time to visit:

December to April, when the sea is calm and clear is the best time to see marine life of Maldives. To see manta rays and whale sharks, the best time is July to November. Travel to the Maldives and enter a wonderful world of submarine attractions.
