The South Male atoll or South Kaafu
Atoll is one of the atolls of the
Maldives with many popular diving
sites. Kaafu atoll is made up of
North Male Atoll, South Male atoll,
Gaafaru Atoll Atoll Kaashidhoo and
four atolls geographically.
With ropes emerald islands, the
South Male atoll attracts divers
eager to enjoy a real thunder of
experience in the turquoise waters
of the Sea Maafushi is the capital
island of the atoll. South Male
atoll is a diver’s paradise
with a wide variety of superb diving
sites, profusion of marine species
and tropical climate,.
Vaadhoo Caves on the north side
houses Vaadhoo soft coral reefs,
squirrelfish, tuna fish and soldier.
Kandooma Point is an ideal place
for diving when the water flows
inwards. Watch the triggerfish,
grouper, tuna and sharks hammer.
Yacht Thila located 1 km east of
Dhigufinolhu Island Resort is a
small thila with a diameter of 50
metres. A small vessel was deliberately
sunk to experience diving wreckage
for the tourist. The wreckage houses
moray eels, groupers and batfish.
Vaagali Thila located south-east
of the uninhabited island of Vaagali
is a perfect dive site if you want
to spot sharks, manta rays, eagle
rays, rifle and jackfish. Enrolment
of snapper is often seen here. Gulhi
Kandu, Cocoa Thila, Lhosfushi Kandu,
Medhu Faru, Embudhu Canyon, Bolifushi
Thila and Velassaru Faru are some
diving sites in the South Male atoll
filled with rich colors and marine
species.
